Okay, I know I've been gone this summer, but I DID want to pop back on to recommend a trio of games that I've played recently!
First up is Warhammer Quest, for the iPad. Yep, THAT Warhammer Quest. There isn't a lot to say, except if you liked the tabletop version, this is it:) Graphics are nice, interface is smooth, and the game is a lot of fun. Plus, it has a lot of that Warhammer "feel" as you explore the Empire and Old World! There are expansions for sale as well, including a skaven one... I'll have to check that out:)
Second, check out Sid Meier's Ace Patrol, seen at the top of this post! It is basically Wings of Glory/War in the iPad. Again, if you like the tabletop version, this will likely appeal to you, as you fly your WWI aces through mission after mission. Again, there is a lot for sale, but the original game I believe is free, or at least very cheap!:)
Lastly, for the PC and Mac, check out Faster Than Light (FTL). Sure the graphics look very 1990s, but the game is solid. Basically you are a ship captain flying through the galaxy, a vengeful enemy on your tail, upgrading and developing your ship and your crew and fending off baddies left and right! It is very simple to play but still a TOUGH game... dead is dead, and then you are back to the start. But still, even if it can be very frustrating, it is fun.
So... hope you all can give them a look!
And as always...

Okay, I am starting purchasing and work on the next scene; the Rocky Mountain pathfinder diorama for my father in law (the plan for which can be seen above).
I am gathering the trees, and the cliff will likely be carved from foam.
I am planning for a single mountain man standing on the blue... likely the "Joe Meek" figure from the pack below. I'd like to get rid of the gun in his hand. I might also use the Jed Smith figure, as long as I can carve off the gun.
But I am running into a few issues, and I thought I might ask for help from those of you who know more than I about this range and era!
First off... is there anyone out there who makes 28mm mules WITHOUT a load on their back? I mean... the guys would unload the mule at night, right?
Second... would the guys also have horses? And if so, who on earth makes an appropriate horse just hanging around? Would the saddles be off?
Lastly... what about camp stuff? What kind of things would you think the guys would have around the fire? Boxes? Bags? A little lean to? I'd really love to hear some recommendations for equipment to put around the camp.
Anyway... some help is appreciated!:D

First off, sorry for being away for so long! Not only have I been in the toughest part of the work year, but I've also had a little boy who got sick and then forgot how to sleep. So the last six weeks have been really, really tough, with no chance for posting.
But that doesn't mean no toy soldier stuff has gotten done!
My boss, after years and years of work, retired just a few weeks ago. He is a HUGE naval history buff and model ship builder, and had helped me on the Nelson scene for my father.
So... I wanted to make something more interesting than a gift card as a gift!
I picked up a British Naval Captain, painted him up, put him on a base, and voila! I also got a nameplate done, with his name and the name of my work as the ship name. He rather enjoyed it!
BTW, I have the other captain figure now sitting around. Anyone need a British Napoleonic officer yelling commands? I'll put up a photo soon.
